About
I am Pier-Jean Malandrino, CTO & Head of Architecture at SCUB, a French IT services company. I also serve as AI Ambassador for the French Ministry of Economy (“Osez l’IA”).
I design production AI systems, contribute to open-source tooling, and write about the intersection of software architecture and AI-assisted development.
My work focuses on helping engineering teams adopt AI responsibly — not by chasing the latest prompt tricks, but by building the architectural discipline that makes AI-generated code survivable in production.
What I do
- Technological strategy & architecture — designing scalable, maintainable systems for complex business domains
- AI-assisted development — integrating LLMs into real engineering workflows with proper governance
- Engineering leadership — driving R&D projects and building high-performing technical teams
- Open source — contributing to tools like Docling Studio, a visual inspection layer for document parsing pipelines built on IBM’s Docling ecosystem
Writing
I write about architecture, AI coding practices, and engineering leadership on Medium / Level Up Coding and on this blog.
